I am so happy that I have created my first Blog. This is better than I ever imagined. This first class has exceeded my expectations for any class that has a title pertaining to writing. Who would have thought a few days ago that we would be using avitars and entering virtual worlds as part of "professional writing"? Thanks to Dr. Miller for addressing our hopes and fears for what will likely be the last writing class of our professional schooling career.

The class breathed a collective sigh of relief when we learned that we would finally have some training in the ways of APA. We also were elated at the prospect of continuing to refine and find our voice for our respective dissertation topics. The writing assignments do appear to be time consuming, but I know now that we will have the support and encouragement from each other to make this a successful class for the entire cohort.

This class will certainly be a change from the class prior to it. We will have to change gears quickly to be mentally ready for the challenges that both classes will present.

I agree, Milland, that this blogging thing is not so bad! As I said last night, I am not accustomed to writing about myself, so it is definitely a new experience. I got onto the Zone as well tonight, so I am excited about using the technology.

When I read your blog, it hit me that this would be the last writing class I would probably ever take. I guess I better take it seriously and get every iota of information I can from it.

I am also concerned about the transition from statistics to writing on Thursday evenings. I was exhausted when I got home last night and contribute it to the intensity along with the significant difference in the two classes. It is going to be a long semester! I do think it will be worth it.

Milland you are correct about me being elated about having a class to help me on my dissertation and give me the tools and self-esteem to complete this daunting task. I am glad to know that we will receive some training on APA as well. In the past, it has been read the book and do the best you can to figure it out. I want to build my confidence level with APA, and learn how to document resources that are not cited in the APA manual....I spend so much time each semester working on APA documentation.

Milland,

Thanks for your thoughtful reflections. You're right: the assignments will be challenging, but you'll have a lot of encouragement from your cohort. I can sense that already.

You've convinced me to bring APA style into the next session.

Milland,
I agree with your comments especially the one about being exhausted the other night. I was both physically and emotionally exhausted. Honestly I think I was a little "shell shocked" with thoughts about all that we have to accomplish by the end of this semester. However, I do think it will be beneficial especially since we are working toward the ultimate goal of completion of a dissertation. Donna

Milland,

I too am glad to know we will be able to support and encourage each other with our writing through the interactions setup by Dr. Miller. We have already been through a great deal together and developed a strong bond as a cohort. This interaction can only strengthen the bond.
